L'Huis Perreau lies in the hamlet of Le Chemin that has less than 30 inhabitants. It forms part of the commune of Anthien and lies in the Burgundy-region. Within a circle of 10 kms you find small cities like Lormes, Corbigny and Tannay. Corbigny used to be an important stage at the pilgrimroad to Compostella, because of the abbey St. Leonard. Nowadays the abbey is being restored to become a cultural centre of national importance. In Tannay a group of young wine-growers is rejuvenating the old local tradition. Their wines, especially the white ones, are rather good. Their Chardonnay won silver medal in a global competition in 2002. One of the wine-growers is helping us with our own small vineyard.

Places like Vézelay (with the inspiring basilica), Clamecy (with its mediaeval city centre) and Bazoches (with its castle of Vauban). Bigger cities like Autun, Avallon, Nevers, Charité sur Loire and Auxerre lie at around an hour and a half by car. The classic abbeys of Cluny, Noirlac and Fontenay can be reached by car within two hours.

L'Huis Perreau and its surroundings are especially interesting for people that love nature and culture and who do not seek the entertainment of a city like disco's and luxury shops. There are no forms of mundane tourism. Le Chemin lies at a very short distance of the Morvan, one of the biggest nature reserves in Europe. The parc has more than 3000 kilometers of walking and hiking paths.
The wine areas of Loire (Pouilly), Chablis, and Côte d'Or  all lie within 1,5 hours drive.
